Dora has arrived in Skegness all the way from Brazil

June 2021: To meet the new demand for their premium gin brands Skegness Distillery has installed their new 300L copper pot Still. The Still is the first Still made in South America to be installed in the UK according to the UK agent Vitikit of Exeter.

Made in Brazil and transported by van to a container ship to container lorry and finally by Van to Skegness. The route took the Still across the Atlantic to the UK via Southern Africa and The Baltic ports to end up docking at Felixstowe.

As is the tradition the 300L copper bain-marie pot Still, with a condenser attached, has acquired the female name, Dora. Named in memory of Richard Longworth’s late mum Dora Patricia.

Skegness Distillery produces several brands including the local and popular Jolly Fisherman Skegness Gin and the nationally distributed Stonewall LGBTQ+ Gin which raises money for Stonewall UK charity and is available in Harvey Nichols premier department stores throughout the UK.

Richard commented, ‘Dora has already proven a great asset featuring in distillery tours when not in operation’
